Nicole Griffin - Salon Director

Hi I’m Nicole Griffin of Nicole Griffin hair designs.

I’ve been in the hair industry for over 13 years now, starting at the bottom working Saturdays sweeping the floor, cleaning the loo and making brews.

I first got into hairdressing running a little salon form my bedroom doing Corn rolls and platted extensions for friends then decided I quite liked messing around with its easy, I’ll go and be a hairdresser…. little did I know it’s not easy, long hours, hard work, determination and perseverance played a huge part in the learning process but I loved every second of it.

I first started in a very well known busy salon in Chorley town centre, the teaching was amazing the experience was fantastic and no day was ever the same….. I loved it…. so much so that I saw everyone as family and inherited gaffa as a 2nd dad.

They taught me most of what I now know and how to be business minded. We had different people in giving us education constantly and I was always the 1 challenging the education, I like to know every detail about everything. Here I studied hairdressing at skills solution Manchester qualifying in NVQ2 and also graduated in the Paul Mitchell creative art team project with the option to teach all over the UK. I choose to help to teach the apprentices at our salon building them up and helping them to build up a customer Base, much more satisfying seeing your work pay off on a daily basis!

So for 8 years I worked there and built up a customer Base and some amazing knowledge but after 8 years I felt I had grew and fancied trying it on my own. I said a teary goodbye and started up self employed in another salon, small boutique type, it was a completely differently run salon and I loved leaning different ways businesses ran. I learnt form the girls there lots of new colour techniques and cutting styles… and how to put my make up on…. I was a bit of a boy before hand 

I stayed there for around 3 and half years, I did my NVQ3, got married, had my baby and did my AAT 2, I like to push myself. I was then was offered a rent a chair at a tanning salon which I thought would be a fab platform to start up my own business with less overheads… testing the water sort of speak… it worked better than I could ever imagine and within 7 months I had a appreciate, Naoli, working for me who is a absolute diamond and a little hairdressing star in the making!

I then thought I’m gunna get me a proper salon, so here I am at my own salon Nicole Griffin hair designs, chapel Street Chorley, above grandma’s kitchen, giving a go on my own, it’s amazing we have a fab team, lots of things in the pipeline in true Nicole style pushing myself to the limits in every aspect introducing new products, colours, training and meeting new people every day…. so come and give us a go, have a coffee and let us look after you.

Jess - Stylist

Jess has been in the hair industry for over 4 years not, she specialises in the LA/celebrity weave extensions and is a dab hand at colour correction.
In her spare time she enjoys meeting up with the girls and spending quality time with her daughter.
Jess has been self employed since qualifying in hairdressing starting to grow her business at studio 88, which funnily enough was situated where Nicole griffin hair designs is now! she spent some time there but then after the salon owner gave up the shop she moved on, she worked in another salon and also did mobile on the side building up a customer base. she started to see Nicole for her hair when Nicole was in the tanning shop, at one point Nicole was that busy she needed another stylist to work alongside her and offered jess the position but the salon was just too small for 2 full time busy stylists so jess took on a self employed rent a chair position in another salon, Nicole said to jess 'ill see you in 6 months when your ready to take up my offer, work with me and hopefully will have a bigger salon by then' low and behold 4 months later Nicole was in the salon in chapel street and jess was ready to come and work with her. back to her roots at 40a chapel street.
jess is amazing at hair extensions and takes no time at all to get them in giving you full hair in around a hour! she has in depth knowledge on extension hair and is happy to help anyone with queries regarding these.
check out our Facebook page to see some of jess wrights work and also to get booked in.
Jess is in salon Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and every other Saturday.
appointments can be booked via our online booking system (tint tests are required 48 hours prior to and on the scalp colour process) to see some of jess' work check out our pictures in the portfolio section.

Naoli - Graduate Stylist

I’m 19 years old and newly qualified and beginning to build up a client base, I am the graduate stylist at Nicole griffin hair designs.

I am interested in every aspect of hair dressing, transformations really get my creative juices flowing.

I started off doing bits and bats in a salon in Chorley with family but felt as though I needed to go out to somewhere I didn’t know to kick start myself in the hairdressing world. I then moved on to a salon in Euxton and worked there for over 6 months but with it being a small village salon I felt I needed a injection of creativity in my life, that’s when I found Nicole, I found her on the fabulous world of Facebook and was instantly drawn to her and her salon as there was such a wide range of customers and client pictures, I felt as though I would learn every aspect of hairdressing with her so I contacted her and asked if she would consider an apprentice as I knew she was seeking a stylist, she took me on and the rest is history.

Nicole does a wide variety of looks and colours therefore helping me to improve as a stylist by watching and learning, I am able to grow as a stylist, colour technician and soon to be hair extension technician.

I Love coming to work every day and love the salon environment with a buzz in the air.

In my down time and weekends I love to watch boxsets and go out socialising with friends’ whether it be food and chills or a night on the town to let my hair down after a busy week in the salon.
